i think you should try like a really good deep conditioner. Aveda has some really good products, they are expensive but they smell good and work really great!

Leave in works really well

In the shower, right before you leave, take a brush and just brush it all over. This should hopefully reduce some of that tight curl. You can also stick your hair into a low pony so the curls don't have to much place to curl.

what i do when i dont want to straighten it:

get a product called d:fi extra hold, the green one

after washing your hair ring it out

scrunch your hair with the product and let dry overnight or during the day

hair will be curly but not messy

also try garnier frutis frizz serum

i'm guessing you want your hair to look natural without the frizzy-ness? if wanting to keep the curls as well...i would use a mousse after washing your hair and use a difuser attachment to your hairdryer to take out the excess water...

if you want your hair to look straighter and no frizz i would use a product on your hair that will protect it from the heat from the dryer and or flat iron...and first blow dry your hair out straight and use a product that will tame the frizz or you could blow dry your hair and then use a flat iron and then the product to tame your frizz...

Frizz Ease by John Frieda is a great product! You could just go with it. I mean play up the whole "bed head" look and I'm sure it would be much easier than fighting against nature. You can make your curls uniquely you, soft, shiny and bouncy or very textured. The less work you have to put into looking good the more comfortable you will be thus making you more relaxed and fun to be around.
