Does Tea Tree Oil based shampoo dry out your hair?

I dont know much about tea tree oil as far as if its moisturizing like jojoba oil or if it tends to dry out ends. I've been using it and my ends do seem to be dry, I was wondering what everyone elses experience with it is. Oh and is tea tree shampoo a clarifying shampoo?

tea tree oil is used for soothing the skin on your scalp. you will need a good moisturizer for your ends. Also men love tea tree oil shampoo because it tingles on the scalp. they think it is realy doing something on the scalp. People also use it for dandruf. dry scalp. good luck.

I think it was giving me a HEADACHE when I used it but I am not sure , for sure.... it may be HARSH to some degree and I wonder what it does to gum lines. Report It

It dried out my hair, but made it smell good. I only use it once a week, and then shampoo it with regular shampoo right after :)

No, tea tree is very good for your hair, when people have breakage, this is what they usually use, either that or garlic shampoo.

Yes tea tree oil can be quite drying, especially for hair, it is very antiseptic and absorbs excess oils from the scalp, so Ii guess you were wanting something to cleanse the scalp? If that's the case a very citrussy (spelling?) shampoo will work just as well, I work at Lush and we do a few really nice shampoos, all natural, vegetarian stuff so good for your skin.

Try 'I Love Juicy' it is very good for oily scalps. And it isn't as drying for your skin. 'Rehab' is a good one too puts your hair in brilliant condition.
