next time you get a hair cut ask them to thin it out for you. I have thick hair also that grows out instead of down so when I get it cut she uses a razor type thing and thins it out and makes it less fluffy

The next time you go get a haircut, you should get your hair thinned out/layered. Your head will feel much lighter and less bulky. Using a hair straightener might help too.

Thick hair is sometimes hard to handle.

You'll need to get a really good conditioner

sometimes a leave in conditioner is helpful.

I normally blow dry it and style it too.

Even a good Mouse or gel is helpful.

The right hair cut is always a benefit.

A trim every two months is good

Okay, I understand you have thick, dry, fluffy hair and want smooth hair. Do you like it thick? Then just add some sort of "gloss" over it- I have used silicone products in the past and have been happy. Frizz-Ease works great, best for wet hair. Right now I use coconut oil- just a dab, warmed in my palms, over dry hair.

Another problem I see with "fluffy" hair is that the person it is on is in denial. You may have curly hair, and by combing the curls out, it makes it fluffy. Try some L'Oreal Melting Gel after the shower and only use your fingers to detangle. You may not have dry, fluffy hair but rather gorgeous ringlets.
