I also have long hair past my bra about an inch, which is weighing down the curls, it looks really wavy and i like it that way, what can i use to keep my waves/culrs that way, something to strengthen the curls as the perm starts to go. What is a good styler or hair product, i don't really like the wet scrunchy look, just something to define the waves/curls so that they don't all look brushed out or something.

first, for dry hair after a perm, i use plain ole "cheap" baby oil, before i shampoo, i rub lots of baby oil into my hair, leave on as long as you can, like 1-2 hours if possible, massage into scalp as well as hair, i usually only have time for 20 minutes, them shampoo with a shampoo for dry hair, then a light condition, to keep perm curls, i use "curl revitalizer" K-Pak, it's a Joico product, it creates curl, defines curl an adds shine, i think it's great.hope some of this will help you an by the way , the baby oil tip came from my hair stylist so i wouldn't spend money not needed, she says they all use it themselves but don't tell customers as they would lose money on product. good luck n have a great day!!

I know there are a few Loreal products that help keep in curls/waves. There is also some stuff from Bed Head I think its called for permed hair to hold in moisture. Check Wal Mart. You'll definitely find stuff there

Been there, done that... the BEST thing you could do for your hair is to cut all the worst of the dry ends off - bad news when you like long hair -- and then condition the rest like crazy, continuing to cut the frizzed hair as it grows out... I had to cut my hair above the shoulder length more than once due to a harsh perm... so that was the last time for me! Once you have done that kind of serious damage, the split ends will travel to the top of the hair shaft and continue splitting, so the only way to fix it is to cut it as much as possible until it's grown out. If you don't care about split ends or it isn't as bad as I am thinking, then just get a trim and condition the rest like crazy. The best conditioners and shampoos are the gentlest, they would contain NO sodium laurel sulfate, the label would say "sls free" - if you can't find some at your local grocery store (we have it here) then go to a health food store, they always carry great brands that smell good and are gentle on damaged hair.

they sell at any store, a specific type of hair dryer tool accessory thing, the thing with the long prongs on it? i cant remember the name of it... but you will se it when you go there, it gives your curl a very healthy natural bounce when you blow dry. as for the damage... im not sure what you really can do now having a perm, since a lot of oil treatments and things cannot be used on a perm. cant help ya there but.. go to the store, you will see the hairdryer tool thingy ..

You should prolly go in for a trim to a hairstylist you trust and ask her not to cut too much.. just the dry bits.. that'll make it look healthier.. Also try TIGI- Bed head i have a loose perm too it really defines the curls allowing natural movement and doesnt stiffen the hair like other products.. you could also use a bit of serum mixed with water before using the product which will give it some shine.. Remember not to comb permed hair when its dry.. it should only be combed in the shower with conditioner in it.. Hope this helped! :)
