Looking to tame majorly dry, frizzy, puffy hair that can't be tamed with shampoo...help?

Okay here's my deal, I'll try to explain it as best as I can...since I was born I've had this insane thick hair that, when left out of the band for a short time, gets frizzy, dry, and worst of all, puffy. I swear, when I leave it out it stands 3 inches out from my head. I've tried shampoo after shampoo after shampoo etc etc but no matter what it doesn't change at all. It gets even worse when I wash it!

I'm looking for some way I can tame this mess, even if it only lasts a short time. I'm not looking for celebrity hair, I'm just looking for non-carnivorous hair, however you choose to define that.

Go wild, I'm willing to try anything.

All help is much appreciated. THANKS!!

First, treat them frizzies and dry hair.

Make a hair mask!

Recipes For Shiny Hair

To give your hair a great shine and help remove soap build up.

Blondes 閳?Add a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice to your rinse water.

Brunettes and Redheads 閳?Add a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to your rinse water.

Stir 1 teaspoon honey into 4 cups (1 quart) warm water. After shampooing, pour mixture through hair. Do not rinse out. Dry as normal.

Fruit Smoothie Hair Mask

Blend 1/2 a banana, 1/4 cantaloupe, 1/4 avocado, 1 tablespoon wheat germ oil and 1 tablespoon yogurt. For extra conditioning, squeeze in the contents of a vitamin E capsule. Leave in hair for 15 minutes.

**Honey %26amp; Olive Oil Hair Mask (Dry Hair)

Mix 1/2 cup honey and 3 tablespoons olive oil. Work a small amount at a time through hair until coated. Cover hair with a shower cap; leave on 30 minutes (or longer if you want). Shampoo well and rinse.

Dandruff Treatment

Boil 7 heaping tablespoons dried thyme in 2 cups water for 10 minutes. Strain and cool. Pour 1/2 mixture over clean, damp hair. Massage into scalp, do not rinse. Use the rest of the solution another day.

Yogurt Hair Mask (Dry Hair)

Beat 1 egg white until foamy. Add to 6 tablespoons plain natural yogurt. Apply to hair in small sections at a time. Leave in for 15 minutes. Rinse.

**Egg %26amp; Olive Oil Hair Mask(Dry Hair Helper)

Mix two whole eggs with four tablespoons of olive oil. Smooth through hair. Wrap head with plastic wrap, and leave in hair for 10 minutes. Rinse well.

The recipes below are from creativehomemaking.com

Conditioners

Mayonnaise is a great conditioner for dry hair. Depending on the length of your hair, apply approximately 1/2 cup of mayonnaise to your dry hair. Work into hair really well and then cover your hair with a plastic bag, allowing to set for about 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and then shampoo as usual.

In a blender or food processor, combine 2 1/2 tablespoons dried milk, 1 tablespoon wheat germ oil, and 1 egg. Apply evenly to hair and let set for at least an hour. Shampoo and style as usual.

Hair Setting Lotions

Try dissolving a teaspoon of gelatin in a cup of warm water and use this as a setting lotion before styling hair. You can use this as a liquid or chill it and use it as a gel.

Dissolve 1 teaspoon sugar in 1 cup warm water and apply to damp hair before styling.

Combine 4 tablespoons olive oil and 2 tablespoons honey in a glass jar with a lid and shake until well blended. Let mixture sit for 3 to 4 days, and shake it occasionally. Rub mixture evenly into dry hair and wrap hair in plastic wrap, letting set for at least an hour. Shampoo as usual.

Mix together 2 tablespoons vegetable oil and 1 egg. Apply to hair and let set for about an hour. Shampoo as usual.

To help a flaky scalp, warm 2 to 3 tablespoons vegetable oil in the microwave (make sure it閳ユ獨 not too hot!) and then gently apply to scalp with cotton balls. Let set for at least an hour and then shampoo as usual.

Next up, you will want to find a good quality conditioner. I suggest Pantene Pro-V shampoos and conditioners, but please keep in mind they are cruel to animals.

STOP SHAMPOOING SO MUCH! Shampooing too often will dry out your hair, and instead of shampooing every day, shampoo every other day. This will give your hair natural shine and keep your scalp moisturised.

Try a smoothing serum, I'd suggest Biolage serums as well as Matrix Serums.

Hope I helped!

i have hair almost exactly like this, use conditioner! a straightening iron does wonders for me, but i hav thick hair so it still isn't flat but also i put gel and mouse in my hair and scrunch it for a curly look. when you are planning to straighten the next day , take a shower and dont rinse out your conditioner and go to bed wet headed, it makes it less frizzy1 hope i helped!

Cut it really close like the guy on Prison Break.

Or try some different gels or even hair oils. Depending on how you style it. Some gels are like glue and hold it in place but they can look really stiff. Some of the oils (or even a pomode) give you a little freedom to comb it or run your hand through it but still keep it from puffing out.

I think the shampoo is the problem. It sounds gross, but you can go a day or two withoug shampooing your hair. Still shower of course! But use just conditioner. Try FrizEase conditioner. Its 3-5$ a bottle, but it works really well :] If not that, try Infuseium 23 conditioner. And the Friz Ease hair sirum works really well for frizzy hair too :D

My hair goes dry and ive got split ends what do i do ..?

First, You need a trim really bad. Second, a deep conditioner will hold together the cuticle until you get that trim. You can start the deep conditioning right away by getting a good conditioner like proV and sitting under a hair dryer (the hooded one) for 5 min short hair 10 min longer hair and rinse your hair completely. Finnish off with a good leave in conditioner. Dont forget to get a trim every 2 months.

My doughter is 4 .and now she has very dry scalp and also hair drops alot can any body help me wat i do?

My doughter is 4 .and now she has very dry scalp and also hair drops alot can any body help me wat i do?

My doughter is 4 .and now she has very dry scalp and also hair drops alot can any body help me wat i do?

well it would probably be better to use something like head and shoulders for a while...and get her to a dermatologist, there can be many different causes for this, including a problem with her thyroid.

My doughter is 4 .and now she has very dry scalp and also hair drops alot can any body help me wat i do?

Baby dandruff -- luckily it does not show up on photos! My first son had a helmet of it but it did clear up: we used calendula oil. This is usually almond oil that has had calendula flowers steeped in it for a long time and is very suitable for children and babies with sensitive skin. His dandruff flaked off with bits of hair attached to it, which was very disturbing. I tried shampooing often, shampooing with special oil-based shampoo, gently loosening the dandruff when his head was moist and the dandruff soft -- no help. But once I tried massaging the calendula oil I used as a baby oil very gently into his scalp on three or four sessions. Within a few weeks the dandruff came loose and pretty much never came back.

I have cut down shampooing to once a week and this also seems to be helpful. It is enough for a four year old, and if there is mud or food to get out of the hair, I just use shampoo just on the hair not on the scalp. I use a gentle baby shampoo, currently J%26amp;J. I would not use head+shoulders as advised above as this would be too harsh on a little child.

If the calendula oil does not help, do speak to your paediatrician. Mine told me that it is a relatively common condition and he can prescribe something to help, but I wanted to try a more natural way before hitting the drugs.

Hope I've helped and good luck

My doughter is 4 .and now she has very dry scalp and also hair drops alot can any body help me wat i do?

First of all I would take her to a pediatrician and have her checked out.She is probably needing specific vitamins for her age group.Don't wait around.

What is the best solution to fix dry damaged hair?

You cannot actually "fix" damaged hair, but you can improve its appearance. The first thing to do is avoid shampooing often. Washing your hair strips all the good oils out of it. When you do shampoo, be sure and use a heavy conditioner (not waxy tho...try something like Bumble %26amp; Bumble's DEEEP). You should also do treatments once or twice a week (you can use that same conditioner just put a hot towel on your head and leave in for 10 minutes then rinse). Use leave-in conditioners and try to avoid blow drying and using heat irons if you can. When you do use flat irons, etc. be sure and use a silicone based product like BioSilk's Silk Therapy to help protect your hair from the heat. Mostly you just need to keep your hair hydrated and also keep it trimmed. Split ends just get worse and make your hair look worse......

What is the best solution to fix dry damaged hair?

use a good conditioner

and do wash your hair with curd or cream once in a week

What is the best solution to fix dry damaged hair?

I use henna/placenta masks, you can buy them at professional beauty supply stores.

I've also used something called Hair Mayonnaise - it's in the section for "ethnic" hair. It works very well to moisturize dry hair, and it seals the hair cuticle, allowing it to Recover.

You could also start taking a multi-vitamin designed for "healthy hair and nails", prenatal vitamins work the same.

Treat your hair more gently, as in, use cool water to wash it, use a gentle or baby shampoo, or something that specifically says "dry or damaged hair". Use conditioners on your hair, brush gently, don't bleach or dye or perm your hair for about a month if possible, go easy on the heat (hair dryers, curling irons or straighteners)...

What is the best solution to fix dry damaged hair?

minimize using blowers and irons... don't apply shampoo and conditioner everyday.. do it every other day.. it helps release your hair's natural oil and won't keep your hair dry.

What is the best solution to fix dry damaged hair?

I know that it can be a pain to have dry damaged hair but there is something that can help and it's pretty cheap to purchase at the grocery store if your a little short on cash too.I am a professional cosmetologist and there is a product that is called collesterol and it can be found in the section where the African black products are shelved at.This collesterol can be used by anyone and believe it or not the same stuff is used in salons and people pay big money just to have their hair deep conditioned with it.It won't leave your hair greasy as you would probably think just because it says collesterol on it.All you do is wet your hair or after you have shampooed it and apply the collesterol as if you were applying conditioner...then leave it in your hair for at least 5-10 minutes depending on how bad your hair is damaged then rinse it out with cool water. The water has to be cool.Whenever people rinse their hair in hot or warm water shampoo remains in their hair still that's why people are to rinse it in cool water so that it rinses out properly.I hope this info is what your looking for.

What is the best solution to fix dry damaged hair?

First, get a good haircut and see what they can save, then ask the stylist what they recommend you use for revitalizing your hair. My friend is a cosmetologist and she always says, you get what you pay for. So if you want the cheap walmart crap, don't expect it to do much for you.

Fatigue, hair thinning/dry, wt loss but loss of appetite...due to?

I have been blaming 10 hr days, quick 5 min snack lunch meal, lot of stress on job lately and I am just worn out...am on thyroid medicine and had surgery on ulnar nerve in arm in Oct could cause hair problems but your thinking?? Just began taking some vitamins thinking that may help but I can go all day and not eat but live on coffee and cokes.....thanks for suggestions

Fatigue, hair thinning/dry, wt loss but loss of appetite...due to?

The reason your hair is getting thin is because of an improper diet. You need quality nutrition to feed the hair follicles. Living on coffee and cokes can easily make you feel fatigued. Coffee plays havoc on the body.coca cola is loaded with sugar and that causes a loss of energy. You need to start eating real food. You can talk to your doctor about this but the real problem is bad nutrition. It's easy to make the sandwich and take that with you to work. Grab a yogurt. There's many foods to choose from. It's up to you to make the decision of what you do with your body.

Fatigue, hair thinning/dry, wt loss but loss of appetite...due to?

It looks like your thyroid med levels need to be checked. It's a delicate balance. My mother is on thyroid medicine and they change her levels quite frequently.

Fatigue, hair thinning/dry, wt loss but loss of appetite...due to?

a few days off and a doctor's visit is my suggestion. Sound like your diet is for crap. You need a balanced diet, even some fats. Slow down and enjoy life a bit. You may have all the money in the world one day, but can you spend it from a hospital bed, or worse, a casket?

Fatigue, hair thinning/dry, wt loss but loss of appetite...due to?

Could be job stress, but 10 hrs/day isn't unusual, would have loved to work so few.

You should see the saw-bones and have some blood work done just to be safe.

Fatigue, hair thinning/dry, wt loss but loss of appetite...due to?

Change your diet to balanced one, with lots of vegetables and fruits. Reduce coffee and coke intake.

Give some time for regular exercise.

Meditation is also very good for reducing your stress.

Check your thyroid hormone level as it will be needed more, if you are in stress.

Try to find enjoyable things or hobby in your life.

These all make your life enjoyable.
